T59 - HMRC Scares The Revenue have recently been sending out letters requesting additional information from taxpayers relating to specific sections or expenses in the business accounts, for example motor expenses. In these cases, they state that additional information is to be provided on a voluntary basis. We advise you not to enter into any dialogue with the Revenue (written or verbal). Instead you can direct any further inquiries to our office. The Revenue is also still issuing standard "intervention letters" to certain tax payers, classified as their "friendly approach". These letters just communicate to taxpayers to ensure their Returns are filed correctly and do not signal the start of an Investigation. |
