M2 - Advantages of Producing a Dental Newsletter

Many dentists assure themselves that their patients know exactly what additional services are on offer at the practice. However, patients may be familiar with treatment terminology but not really be sure as to what it means.

For example, your patients may know that a hygienist works at your practice, but they might not know what the benefits of visiting a hygienist are.

On many occasions, patients become too nervous to even ask questions or think logically.

You can easily get around these points, by producing a simple non-technical practice newsletter, which, in addition to other things, will explain the various treatments offered at your practice in a simple manner.

A simple newsletter can also keep patients up to date with developments in your surgery, and make them feel "part of it".

Topics to cover could be:

New staff (if they are likely to be long term).

You could include a small picture of them, and maybe a short description, including their experience. This also shows that your are proud of your staff and value their involvement.

New equipment.

You could tell them what the equipment does, how successful it has been and maybe the staff who can operate them.

Current Dental Issues

You can give them summarized information about new issues affecting the dental world.

You could also include Promotional Offers such as:

Reduced prices for certain dental treatments. Staff who have had good treatments will generally pass on their satisfaction to patients and if treatments are cosmetic they will represent "moving advertising".

In addition, a number of practices make albums of photographs of teeth before and after treatment.

The only downside of producing a newsletter to distribute to patients as they wait for their appointments is the cost, and this is not as high as you may think.

You could even produce one yourself using a simple word processing package. This would allow you more freedom, and of course lower costs. However, it is really best done with a colour printer. (Remember: the 100% First Year Allowance on IT equipment has been extended to 31st March 2004!)

We take great pride in our service, and would be delighted to invite you for a free 1 hour, no obligation meeting at our comfortable offices. Simply call us  on 020 8346 0391 to arrange a mutually convenient time.
